Organic movement filtered through geometric shapes, sharp lines and asymmetry creates a poetic language that re-negotiates how Kajsa Malmström's jewellery relates to the body.
This ring is part of our Art Ring showcase at Tomfoolery.
Art Ring is an annual celebration of bold design and craftmanship showcasing masterful creations from over 40 unique designers. The Art Ring event is hosted in the gallery from November to January. Each Art Ring comes with a dedicated Story Card featuring a sketch and quote from the designer.
''The ‘Compass Ring’ is inspired by the aesthetics and thoughts cultivated amongst a select group of artists in the early 20th century. Their work was informed by theosophical ideas and mysticism. The paintings and drawings of the artists Hilma af Klint and Lucie Lagerbielke have inspired an abstract visual language that is laden with symbolism, and echoes of a geometric tradition, which has influenced the piece.
