Jewellery Care Guide

Your jewellery will last a lifetime if properly cared for. Avoid anything that risks physical damage to your jewellery, and whilst not being worn, ensure it is stored in a cool, dry place. Pieces should be stored separately, without touching each other.

Gemstones and metals may appear sturdy, but they are susceptible to scratches, dents, and tarnishing. Safeguard your jewellery from sharp impacts, abrasions, chemicals, and drastic temperature changes.

It’s advisable to refrain from wearing your jewellery while swimming or engaging in sports, as chlorine and saltwater can lead to deterioration and gradual erosion of metals. When cleaning or gardening, always remove rings (or wear protective gloves) to prevent damage.

14ct gold is more durable than 18ct, which is softer and more prone to scratching. Despite this, it will need some care and occasional polishing with a soft bristled brush or cloth using warm water and detergent-free soap. Some metals are prone to tarnishing over time and should be kept in cases with a soft suede-like interior to ensure pieces are well cared for.

Gemstones have varied degrees of hardness and many coloured ones are prone to fading or discolouration when exposed to natural elements or certain chemicals for a prolonged period. These include salt water, sun, perspiration, chlorine, bleach, and cosmetics.

After wearing, gently wipe your pearls with a soft cloth to prevent the accumulation of oils or residues from daily wear. Use a damp cloth sparingly for cleaning when necessary. For visible stains, create a solution of lukewarm water and mild dish soap, then delicately wipe the pearls with a soft cleaning cloth. Avoid immersing strung pearls in water to prevent weakening of the silk thread. Ensure that strung pieces are completely dry before storing to maintain the integrity of the silk thread. Make it a habit to wear your pearls regularly! They thrive in a moist environment, so frequent wearing helps prevent them from drying out.
